300 Million People!

Before I write about that: So far, no spam, and I don’t even have comment moderation on. Bad Behavior has blocked 26 access attempts in the past 2 days. That’s pretty good. Other update: I finally fixed the archives pages, so you can search by month as well as view all.

According to the Census Bureau the population in the US hit 300mil today at 7:46am E.D.T. But, I say yeah… right.

There are about 1mil things wrong with the Census Bureau, and if I had time, I would love to try to list them all. But I’ll be succinct here, the Bureau cannot do it’s job for 3 reasons:

  1. It is physically, economically, and chronology impossible to count everyone in the country.
    • There is just no way that the meager people at that bureau can go around to every house, every apartment building, every street corner, and every trashcan to count all of the residents within our borders.
    • It would cost way too much money, and I think the US spends enough on it’s defense budget alone. (What is it like $300bill, whilst France’s defense budget is either $30bill or $70bill? I can’t remember–not even sure if it’s France, but they don’t spend a lot.)
    • Moreover, by the time they do speak to everyone, they’ll have to start over.
  2. Most people really aren’t interested in talking with the government. Bill collectors are better at finding people it seems.
  3. Illegal immigration, the bane and the savior of the United States economy. This is impossible to fully analyze because there are so many reasons for it and against it, in many different capacities.
    • People usually consider illegal immigration in terms of what it does to their country, but few consider it’s domino affects in countries in Africa, or Iraq, etc. There’s benefits and detriments for illegal immigration in the US for them as well. (Something I’ll probably elaborate on later. Something also that I haven’t even heard my professors discuss.)

The fact of the matter is, and as many critics have said, the population hit 300mil people months ago. Let’s disregard the errors in the statistics that the Bureau puts out, because random sampling is a fairly good way to find out things about the population as a whole, like I said, there is just no way to try to count everyone. But, don’t misread me, I there are probably more efficient ways that things can be done, but since when is the government ever efficient?

The immigration “problem” is the bureau’s main downfall. They just cannot count how many people are within the borders at a given time, and they’ll never be able to.

Is illegal immigration wrong? Well, it is illegal, but beyond that, is for another article. I wrote a bit on my opinions of amnesty for illegal immigrants, it’s on Skillpedia to read more, and I’ve also added it to this site, it is titled Illegal Immigration: The Preamble it is in the My Thoughts section.

We are conducting a survey on amnesty for illegal immigrants in the UK and the USA for the next 6 months at http://skillipedia.com . We want to hear opinions from normal people - not political parties or thinktanks.

Your opinions or feedback are much appreciated

Illegal immigrants always have been a problem in the US, you should ask the Native Americans….

I agree though that they can never count all people in the country at any given time, it’s absolutely impossible.

Thanks for joining the fanlisting btw :D

I think I’d rather ask the Native People  lol. Technically, they shouldn’t be called Native American’s because they were here before our ancestors rudely called the place America.

That’s always been a sore spot for me, and I have not idea why. I’m not a native person, or should I say a descendant from the native people, but I still think they deserved to be called what they are, not Native Americans, not Indians, not “those crazy people who dance around fires.” (Never heard that last one, but you never know, and smart people think in threes, it’s true.)

And no problem, I love joining things.
