Where have all the good hosts gone?
This is my mini-rant about the ridiculousness that is hosting services today. It seems as if everyone is having problems with ass-backwards hosting services who no longer care that it’s not about quantity, it’s about quality.
Exhibit A, Exhibit B, Exhibit C=me. In the last 3 days alone.
They don’t know how to cater to their customers, they have horrible tech support, and they only see the bottom line.
Don’t get me wrong, we as customers see the “bottom line” as well, but the problem is the disconnect between each lines. These hosts want everyone they can get to sign up, and they do everything they can to make it seem worthwhile.
But, when it comes to the delivery of the service, they drop the ball… majorly. It’s ridiculous.
My advice for today (this goes to all of the hosts that think they know what they are doing), advertising is a great way to get new customers, but great customer service is the only way to keep them.

Well to be fair, Jumba (my host) have answered all of my questions and even did a live chat with me. It only took them a while to answer my abusive emails because they were copping so many of them

I’m sorry to hear your hosts haven’t been so cordial
Lol. I don’t seem to be very lucky when it comes to hosting.
I’ve switched like 6 times in the past 7 months or so.
I can’t seem to get on you site.
Sometimes, I wonder that myself as well. I’ve noticed that many domains are having server problems. Eh, and when you expect a reply from the company ASAP, they take FOREVER to reply as if we have patients. NO! Ah! Great advice and very true. I’ll keep that in mind!
Replies are like ridiculous sometimes though. I’ve had 26 emails go back and forth bw myself and dreamhost (the problem was not made by them though) in the past week and a half.
And I’m choking right now so I’ll stop typing.
Edit: I’m not sure what else I had wanted to say. But yea, customer service is the thing.
my old host was a bit of a bitch to deal with, but thankfully my new host hasn’t had any problems and i’ve had my new domain for about a year now. sorry to hear that your host is a total bitch
The phone company I mentioned can be reached by phone, something I found out just a little while ago.
But there is (of course) a catch, you either have to make the call from your own cellphone ($$) or call to a cellphone number ($$$). And when you get a hold of an employee they give an unbelievable answer;
Q: when does my contract end?
A: Ooh that happens to be today
yeah right :-/
So it’s not only hosting companies that screw up big time, but national providers too
