Saddam Hussein’s execution

For those of you who don’t know, and have been living under a rock apparently, Saddam Hussein was executed yesterday.

I previously wrote about this decision in my post about the penalty of death, and my thoughts still apply. I am against the thought of the death penalty, and although many American’s do not agree with me, I believe most Europeans–or so the polls say–do.

I still do not believe that killing someone is a punishment for their crimes. What is worse than making someone pay everyday for the rest of their lives?

One thing that I thought was funny was that the news claimed that they didn’t “know” if the bombings going on in Iraq at the same time that his execution was going on were related. Apparently they may or may not be. Two words: That’s bull. Obviously they are related.

There are still many, I am sure who support Hussein. Leaders of different countries are coming out and saying that they will mourn his death. I only see this execution as a catalyst of something that we may not be able to handle.

Did Saddam deserve to die? Yes. Should he have died? No. There is no way to justify punishing a murderer by killing them.

I think the main thing for you is to stay calm and realize there is nothing scary about taking the subway or accidentally getting off at the wrong stop. You can always take the next one and get off at the right point.

Public transportation is nothing to get freaked out about, only something you should get the hang off ;)
