Thanks

Thanks for the messages before. I’ll let you guys know what I my mother does.

A bit of a test. I’ve almost finished the next layout. If you could all look at it and tell me what you would change/do, I would appreciate it. I’ve run it through a few tests, I’ve checked in FF, IE7, and safari, but if anyone has any other browsers, and are willing to test, I would appreciate it.

So far it’s passed color blindness tests, Section 508, and WCAG 1,2 & 3.

I actually like this new one, more the current, but I’m keeping the current as default for now. It’s about 95% done. I need to work on the meta area though.

You can test it here: Aqua. Also, I don’t think the name fits, so what would you suggest?

The main problem: there are a lot of images that’s probably going to increase the size quite a bit. I did save for web, but it’s still going to be a lot. A little over 70kb I would say.

And, apparently, the mods at WordPress Support don’t know what they are doing, or at least some because I had one that was quite shocked about something I said… saying it’s completely impossible… and then it turns out I was right…. Again.

WordPress Info

If you have upgraded to Version 2.06 like I and many others have, you may have noticed that many of the Search plugins (as well as many others) no longer work. This will only get worse when Version 2.10 comes out on the 22.

Supposedly Search Everything works for 2.1, and you would imagine that it works for 2.06 as well. It doesn’t for me, but maybe it will for you. It is only for the admin panel though, I believe.

Then there is also the Advanced Search Plugin which according to a mod at WordPress Support, does work with 2.06, so, we will see. Edit: It works, and it’s pretty cool. You can test it out.

There is something to note though. Some people are deciding to move back to 2.05, and I think that is a mistake. There have been many security fixes implemented into the new version, and going back when there are known problems is a serious and unnecessary risk.

Edit 2: Multiple IE’s. I’ve just found out how to run multiple IE’s so I’m going to test in IE6 now. Thanks Amanda.

Ok, so IE6 sucks. I did my best to try to make them look good in FF, IE7, and IE6, but it was a bit difficult. There’s a pretty large gap in the “sidebar” between the columns, but that’s the smallest I could make it and make IE6 look alright.

I tested the layout in Avant Browser and it worked beautifully. I like both the default layout AND the new layout. They both are wonderful.

Although I hate wordpress with a passion. It’s never worked properly for me. I always feel incredibly incompetant when using it. :(

    Thanks! I really appreciate it!

Wordpress is pretty good. It takes a bit sometimes to make things work the way you want them to, but it does a lot more than other tools do.

Mmm…I’m using IE 6 on my brother’s computer and there’s a bit of white space on the right side of the header. I wish I could screencap for you, but I’m kind of separated from my own computer and am stuck on my brother’s…

Otherwise, I do like the aqua/grape type colour theme. :P

I have to say I prefer the default layout over the one called Aqua, I can’t exactly put my fingers on it but when I look at the top image and the background color of the page it is a bit too close to each other for my liking (although, since your default layout looks pink for me this might look different than intended too)

Ooh and about the quote comments on my site; the quotes where already fixed before you made your first comment. I know I have an alt class and an empty one but I’ve set it up differently so all comments look the same except for mine.

@ Chans, well they aren’t the same color, they were actually so different that I didn’t like it at first lol.

I actually do have a screenshot, but I doubt you would see it properly. If at any time you have time to make a screenshot, I would appreciate it.

    @ tom, thanks.

    @ Amanda, I think I fixed it.

The layout is nice as always. I love to visit your website because of the professional feel to everything.

I read your previous post too and I’m really sorry about your dog. I was in a similar situation in 2005 when my dog’s state collapsed. She had been with me over 10 years and I was not ready to let go. But I had to go above my own needs and think what was best for my Sandy, as hard as it was. All the best to you and your family.

I took the liberty of reading your previous post. I’m really sorry about your dog; but if I were you, I’d prefer “euthanasia” over a slow and painful death. I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but 2 of my dogs died within 2 weeks of each other, and the first one died slowly. It was really hard seeing her that way. You and your mom still has the decision though.

Anyway, I don’t know; I love the default layout more than Aqua. The (background) color above the navigation quite threw me off. At first I thought the header image is detached from the rest of the layout, so I was surprised when I scrolled down to find out that it was actually a part of the header. Oh, nothing. I’m just grumbling.

I’m still on WP 2.0.5, and I’m hating it. I’m waiting for cPanel to have the new release, but it’s been a week and still nothing. I’m probably going to do manual installation again. Gonna kill my dial-up again. Anyway, I know someone who likes to stick with 2.0.4, and I told her that she’s risking major security flaw. But I guess it’s just a matter of preferences.

I think I prefer your current layout but this one is nice also. I love blue in colour schemes but then again over the past three years I have adopted a new phrase – “pink owns all”.

I’m too scared to upgrade. I know I will have to sometime but this is the longest amount of time that I’ve been able to blog, keep my entries, without something going wrong.

I absolutely love the new layout. Colours are perfect. Again, I have a comment about background. You should leave your background scroll not fixed. I think it would just make it look more gathered or neat. As for the name, True Blue might work for the theme. Madonna inspired  I also like Amber’s suggestion for Aquamarine.

I’ve tried it fixed and not fixed quite a few times. it just doesn’t work. It looks dulled when you scroll.

Nice new theme! Not very fond of the image header but everything else looks really nice! :D
