Stupid Exams
I just got back from taking an exam, 1 left, and I just cannot believe some people.
One of the things I hate about taking exams is that people cheat, no matter what. When the TAs pass out the exams and they say, “Don’t turn your test over and start until I say so. We want to make sure that everyone has an equal amount of time.” What they really mean is, “Go ahead and cheat as long as I don’t see it, or even if I do see it.”
Why do people resort to cheating when they know that the test will be curved, and if they do badly, everyone will do better? *Sigh*
Last week, I had an exam, I was sitting in the first row, there’s a table in the front that indents the rows, so there’s a gap in the middle and the second row is the first row in that area.
A TA was standing right there, right in front of a boy who started his exam–about 10 minutes early–in his face! He did nothing, he said nothing, and I’m staring right at the boy and the TA wondering what was going on.
Where’s the integrity? I really do believe that American college students have become to self-centered and selfish.
It’s sad really.
ps. I had no idea that you could be sentenced to “weekends in prison.” This woman could get probation and 8 weekends in prison for serving alcohol to minors.
Huh? Who’s going to want to go back to prison every weekend?
It’s early, maybe I’m missing something.</stream>

That is lame that the TA did nothing. He must have seen it.
In Finland I never saw anyone turn their paper before we were allowed. I wouldn’t have dared to do it either. :p It is only a matter of few minutes anyway and we had 6 hours on us. I think the time was even longer in the final exams.
Thanks, I’m glad you like the new layout.
Hmm Weekends in prison. That would defeat the whole point, no??
I’m sure her lawyers bargained for that. She probably gets to keep her job but her weekends are ruined for a while and the state doesn’t have to house and feed her full time… just ruin her good times. Who knows?
As to the tests, you know, I never was graded on a curve, so I’m not even really sure what that is, but you are right- people these days don’t do their work and they expect to get treated as if they had. People just slide by doing the minimum they have to do and make those that really work for what they get… work even harder. It’s ridiculous.
I sometimes wonder if they only say such things just so they say it. Like they don’t really care if you cheat or not, “becuase you’re only hurting yourself and it has nothing to do with me”.
Haha Sweet. Prison during weekends. Sounds like fun xP
