It’s Official Re: Our Government
Well, officialer ((E.g., More official.)) The U.S. government is run by a bunch of moronic idiots.
But, you already new that ((Hence the officialer.))
Our now Defense Secretary Robert Gates will ask Congress for a Iraq war budget of $190 billion, apparently 1/3 greater than previously expected.
Have you heard of the “Guns vs Butter Model“?
It models the relationship between a nation’s investment in defense and civilian goods. In this model, a nation has to choose between two options when spending its finite resources. It can buy either guns or butter, or a combination of both. This can be seen as an analogy for choices between defense and civilian spending in more complex economies.
Basically what it means is that a government has 2 options, spend its money on war and fighting, or spend its money on its people. Think of Britain during the Napoleonic wars, think of Johnson during the Vietnam war, think of President Bush now.
Why isn’t the country benefiting from the “low unemployment”? Guess.
Why do young people my age fear their own retirement? Guess.
Why is it that the House voting for an expansion of children’s health insurance little cause for praise? Guess.
Republicans like to blame Democrats for deficits, saying they spend too much ((Although President Clinton ended his term with a surplus.))
Gates Says:
“I know that Iraq and other difficult choices America faces in the war on terror will continue to be a source of friction within the Congress, between the Congress and the president and in the wider public debate.”
No shock there. Obviously, now with demonstrations and constant calls for changes in the status quo, we are not happy. And, it looks like not much will change. He continues:
“Considering this, I would like to close with a word about something I know we can all agree on — the honor, courage and great sense of duty we have witnessed in our troops since September 11th,”
I do agree. I wholeheartedly appreciate the hard work our troops have done and continue to do in Iraq and elsewhere, which is why I think it’s time to pack up.
I’m not sure which is the biggest mistaken war, Vietnam or Iraq, we’ll see I guess.
I fear for those men and women who’ve been promised the right to return home, and yet have had them denied. I fear for their future, and their abilities to re-adjust to normal society post war.
As a peaceful society, where is the peace?

When I heard this nonsense, I was fuming but I can’t say I’m surprised. Gates is yet another puppet for our ignorant President. I’m so tired of all of these people who do not think for themselves. I really would like to think that this country could not possibly have so many stupid people that were actually ELECTED into office.
It’s sickening how fast Bush and his administration went through the surplus that the Clinton administration left.
Is it voting time yet?
