On WordPress 2.3
I was going to wait until the “official” release came out before commenting, but I can’t.
I’m not too thrilled. I was content with 2.2. I liked it, it had everything that I wanted, but 2.3 came out, and I had to upgrade, and it was fine. A couple of my plugins broke, and I had to update many of then, but that was fine.
What I don’t like? The TAGS. My god. I know people are all for tags. They like to use them in their tag clouds or whatever (thank the lord mine didn’t break), but I could care less about them. I don’t need them, nor do I want them.
But, of course all of my plugins relying on the categories table (or whatever) broke, including my related posts plugin. So, what do I do? Go search for another one, and BAM! There it is.
Except, it also relies on tags. So, what am I to do? Go through 150 posts and add tags to them all? Yes, this sounds like something I want to do.
I feel sorry for those with like 900 posts or something. Hopefully, someone will come up with some other solution.
Oh, and don’t forget to checkout my book reviews (fixed link), I’ll be adding to them periodically.
And, 1 more WPR, just for a critique on this layout, as soon as I find one that could do a review in less than 1yr.

I…I still fail to understand the difference between categories and tags.

Ok, now I’m officially scared to update… =/
I just want the security fixes. I don’t want silly tags, tag clouds and all that nonsense. I like my categories. There aren’t many of them and they do the job.
But, this is why people complain about WordPress, they keep adding stuff that’s unnecessary for the majority of users.
It’s only now that I’m starting to see the WP bloat. Don’t get me wrong, I still love it, but if people really want the extra features, why not just use plugins? Surely the people that understand the extra features will know where to get them or write plugins for them!
Ehh. I love your site. I admire anyone who can code a layout for wordpress, aha. XD
Anyhow, nice site!
Thanks! It’s really not that difficult to make WordPress layouts. After doing it a couple times, you get the hang of it quickly.
I never used tag clouds but I have seen a lot of sites that have. I’m going to check out your book reviews because I need a good book to read!
