Racism is the new it thing

Apparently, racism is back with a vengeance.

I never thought that racism was “over.” I always knew discriminatory, hateful attitudes were pervasive in many parts of the country.

But, with escalated information of racist events, I just wonder what’s happening with this country. I asked before if we were really a peaceful country, but now I know that we aren’t.

I’m not going to re-hash what happened in any of those cases. However, if you’re an American, and you don’t know what’s happening at least in Jena, Louisiana, shame on you ((And yes, I do believe shame is warranted in this case)).

But, I will say that I am probably more disgusted with our legal system’s participation in this horrible situation. Reverend Al Sharpton recently called the judge ((state District Judge J.P. Mauffrey Jr.)), Jim Crow Esquire Jr., and I have to agree. He is so clearly racist, so clearly evil, so clearly corrupt, it disgusts me. And the thought that he was elected into his position? Gee, next stop State Supreme Court…. ((And, no I don’t rely on Wikipedia for my info, I watch/read/listen to the news))

The District Attorney Reed Walters warned protest organizers that with a stroke of his pen he could take their lives away (while at a school assembly against the three white students who hanged nooses in a tree in the school courtyard). Walters has admitted under oath that he made this remark.

This is a case of institutional racism, and sadly, it’s not the only case.

I just wonder if we need to wait another 139 years ((I.e., since the ratification of the 14th Amendment)), for people to just get over themselves.

I can’t believe that people are riding on this Jena incident as a way to justify their racist actions. They are truly disgusting human beings.

Even though I live in the UK I’m cheering on Obama for 2008. He’ll probably settle the score.

Racism probably will never end. I grew up in South Africa, and though all the people in britain say apartheid is over it truly isn’t.

These things don’t go away easily, but I heard about the situation in Louisiana and I hope that it can get sorted soon.

I hate racism. I wish one day people should stop thinking about themselves and start thinking about others – in a positive way.
