Death as a Penalty

For those of you who have not heard yet (and are living in Siberia apparently), Saddam Hussein and two defendants has just been sentenced to death for committing crimes again humanity.

BAGHDAD — Saddam Hussein, who oversaw the murder of thousands of Iraqis during 24 years as their president, was convicted of committing crimes against humanity in the 1982 killings of 148 people in a Shiite Muslim town. Iraq’s former leader was sentenced to die by hanging.

Globalization Essay

… and other updates.

I’ve finally finished my globalization essay. Yes, it is about time. I’ve been “writing” it for about 3 weeks now, but I had other things that I needed to get done. I think it turned out pretty well. So go ahead and check it out! It is in the “My Thoughts” section entitled Is Globalization Bad?.

The third problem: the general assumption that open markets and free trade will work for a developing country, because they say so. They assume (yes, this is an ass/you/me situation) that because rich countries like the United States benefit, that a developing country will also benefit and become rich.

I Want Marriage

Happy Halloween

I had two lectures for the same class today. That was fun….

I want to get married

I want to get married. Not right now, but some day. I remember when I was a little girl though, I would say, “No marriage for me. No kids for me.” I don’t know what changed, but that’s not how I feel anymore.

I do want to get married. I do want to have a nice husband to go home to. I do want to have kids some day (poor kids).

However, I’m scared. Not about marriage, but about divorce. Over 50% of marriages in the U.S. end in divorce. My parents are divorced. My brother is getting divorced. Many of my friend’s parents are getting divorced. … continue reading: I Want Marriage
